"Le Vieux Marly" - Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 3 pm

Walk in historic Marly-le-Roi, Les Yvelines (78)

Join us for this rare walking tour in English. Historians trace Marly-le-Roi’s existence back to the 7th century, but the town became better known when Louis XIV decided to establish his country retreat from Versailles there in the 1680s. Later, in the 19th century Alfred Sisley, Victorien Sardou, Aristide Maillol and Alexandre Dumas came to Marly, looking for calm and inspiration. The picturesque streets, old homes and church continue to charm visitors.

Marly-le-Roi is a 25-minute train ride out of St Lazare station; the visit itself will last 90 minutes.
