We will hike through a nature reserve along the Essonne and its ponds, past the ruins of a castle and a 12th century chapel, and finally through the park of another castle.
This hike is 19 kms long and should take us from 5 to 6 hours. We will take the RER D (train BIPE) to la Ferté-Allais. It leaves from the
Chatelet Les Halles station at 9:37 am. To find the right track, look for signs in the main station for the RER D direction Melun. We will meet
on the platform or inside the third car from the end of the train. This train also leaves from the Gare de Lyon at 9:43 am.
Do not buy a round trip ticket, as we'll be coming back from Mennecy. Trains leave every hour from there.
Wear your sturdy shoes, bring a picnic lunch, and keep your fingers crossed that we'll have a beautiful June day.
