It Takes a Village - appeal for volunteers to help an autistic child of 2 1/2 years old

Laurie McPherson writes:
A friend of mine is seeking volunteers to help her son develop social skills - she's calling it "It takes a village". She learned within the past year that he is autistic. She has done loads of research, talking with professionals, etc., and she (American) and her husband (French) have decided to follow a "treatment" which involves lots of different people interacting with their son individually for an hour and a half at a time on a regular basis (hence the "It takes a village"). So she's making an appeal for volunteers, and I'm spreading the word.

Adrien’s World
My name is Adrien and I am 2 1/2 years old. Due to developmental difficulties I can’t learn certain important communication skills by myself. So I need your help to grow up to be like other kids my age!
I would love it if you would come and play with me once a week for 1 1/2 hr. It will be a lot of fun! I am like most toddlers my age: I love cars, trains, bubbles and music. But it’s through one-on-one playtime that I am learning to communicate with people. We speak English and French but I don’t care what language you speak, or how old you are as long as you like to laugh, relax and play.

If you can be available for a 1 1/2 hr weekly playtime at our home (Paris 5th), please call or email my daddy at: 06 9505 7772 or playwithadrien@gmail.com before Sunday, October 28th, 2012.

Mummy & Daddy will present the program to all volunteers on Sunday, November 11th from 16h-18h.

Love, Adrien

Guided by a child psychologist, Mme Torterotot, who works with children with special needs, Adrien’s family asks you to join the team in this rewarding project of "building a village" for Adrien to help pull him out of his own little world (inspired by the method of Stanley Greenspan Floortime, Braintraining, 3I, etc). The team of approx 20 volunteers will meet once a month to review Adrien’s progress.
If this does not suit your busy lifestyle, we hope you might know someone to whom this may be of interest. Thank you.

François Le Roy, PAN member, is the author of a novel "Sergio and Ingrid, pioneers to Mars", the rights of which are donated to the NGO "Plan International" - un organisme humanitaire présent dans 45 pays et portant assistance via plus de 60,000 bénévoles à près de 1,300,000 enfants et familles en difficulté. Une bienfaisance pas seulement symbolique….
This novel is on sale at Amazon, and would make a perfect Christmas gift. The theme is the travel of the first settlers to Mars.
… Don't be afraid! It is meant for readers from 10 to 100.
It was first published in French, but is no longer available in that language for the time being, (the first 5,000 copies have already been sold). It is now available only in English, thanks to the benevolent translation of two women, members of Plan International. One is British, and the other is American.
